Toy Company Hasbro Unintentionally Acquires The Rights to Death Row Records

Written by on December 30, 2019

Today in “I didn’t see that coming” news, toy company Hasbro has just acquired the rights to Death Row Records entire catalogue. No, we’re not playing around.

The company responsible for making your childhood memorable with toys such as Mr. Potato Head, GI Joe, E.T., and Monopoly now owns the rights to the music that made your adolescent years unforgettable. UPROXX is reporting that the toy and board game company ended up with the iconic record label after coughing up a cool $4 billion dollars for Entertainment One simply to own the rights to Peppa Pig. It just so happens that the home that Dr. Dre and Suge Knight built fell under the same umbrella as the British boar. Talk about lucking into a gold mine.

There must be so much unreleased heat from Dr. Dre, Snoop, and Tupac stashed in that west coast vault that it’ll make us old heads party like it’s 1999 again. Unfortunately. Hasbro doesn’t seem like they have any intention on opening that G’d up weed gate.

Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner said he’s looking forward to furthering their family-oriented brand. “The acquisition of eOne adds beloved story-led global family brands that deliver strong operating returns to Hasbro’s portfolio and provides a pipeline of new brand creation driven by family-oriented storytelling, which will now include Hasbro’s IP,” he said.

Soooo we guess he doesn’t intend on making Death Row Records baby bibs. How about some Chronic cribs? All Eyez On Me baby monitors? Just sayin’ the sky’s the limit. Oh wait, that’s a Biggie reference. Y’all know what we mean though.
